The Crew

Captain Mike Barlettano Jr (aka Mikey) is a USCG Licensed Captain, and has been fishing since he’s four years old with his father.  Predominantly a saltwater fisherman, Mike, started fishing off Sandy Hook for stripers, fluke, and bluefish in his uncle’s 16 foot ski boat!  Now, Mike is the proud owner of the Nonni Rose, which he dedicates to his two grandmothers Nonni (RIP) and Rosemarie.  He takes them out with him every time he fishes for luck and safe passage.  Mike is a die-hard fisherman, who fishes inshore, offshore, day, night, summer, or winter.  He regards himself as a student of the game, and is always trying to learn new tricks and techniques, and plans on doing that until his last catch.  Mike graduated from the University of Richmond in 2004 with degrees in Finance and Economics, but his true passion is fishing, and hopes to share that experience with anyone who wants to.  Mike also owns and operates a boat with two friends in Montauk, NY.

Matt Hoverman is one Capt Mike’s closest friends.  Matt brings a myriad of experiences to the boat, and has a true passion for fishing and wildlife.  Matt became an Eagle Scout at a young age, and after graduating the University of Richmond in 2004, travelled the world (literally) and has fished from New Zealand to Indonesia to New Jersey.  After that, Matt went on to work for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), working and surveying many commercial fishing boats.  Matt is a chameleon on the deck of a boat, and is a jack of all trades.  He brings a bounty of experience and talent to any fishing boat, and we are happy to have him aboard.  A lot of Nonni Rose Charters won’t require a mate, but when need be, be happy you have Matt onboard.  Matt is also a co-owner/operator of the boat in Montauk, NY. 

Ben Rioux is another one of Capt Mike's close friends.  He hails from Boothbay, Maine, and has been on the water since utero.  Being the son of a Master Captain, and growing up in a fishing town, Ben has been fishing his whole life.  Ben is another jack of all trades, who also is a whiz in the engine room.  He has a ton of a experience fishing for a variety of species in many locations.  He is a great addition to the crew of the Nonni Rose and is sure to give you the best fishing experience around.  Ben graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, focusing on the French Cuisine, so he's the man to ask for some great recipes to cook up the day's catch!  Ben is another co-owner of the boat in Montauk, NY along w/ Mike and Matt.

Stoli is Capt Mike's best friend and confidant.  A complete water bug, this Labrador Retriever loves the ocean, and is always there to greet you on the dock when you come home, especially with a big catch!  When she was a puppy, Capt Mike threw a live bunker on the dock, and Stoli picked it up and buried it in the rocks.  It was love at first "bite."
